The effectiveness of a stand is in direct correlation with its proximity to its wielder, as the potency of a stand diminishes as it moves away from them. Furthermore, in the unfortunate event of a stand user’s demise, their stand will also perish, with the exception of a stand that can activate posthumously.
There are three distinct categories of stands, each with unique properties and abilities. Spirit-type stands are quasi-physical entities that can interact with corporeal objects, but remain invisible to all except other stands or stand users.
They have the ability to reflect any harm inflicted onto the user themselves. Material-type stands are perceptible to everyone and have the ability to manipulate tangible objects. They do not reciprocate damage between the user and stand, but can still make contact with other stands. Phenomenon-type stands have no physical form and instead manipulate a phenomenon such as gravity or friction. They do not reflect damage between themselves and the user.
The world of stands is vast and complex, with a wide array of effects and subdivisions. Close-range power stands are exceptional in close-quarters combat, but experience a decline in their abilities when traveling extensive distances. Long-range stands are proficient at traversing far distances, but are not as effective in close combat. Remote stands excel at covering vast distances and operate independently from their user. Colony stands are comprised of an amalgamation of smaller parts that coordinate attacks or multitask. Independent stands possess their own intelligence and generally disregard their user. Each stand is unique, possessing its own strengths and weaknesses, making them an integral part of any stand user’s arsenal. With such a diverse range of stands, it is important for users to understand each stand’s properties in order to utilize them effectively.
